When stillness unveils wonder
'I just don't have the time', 'there's not enough time', 'I wish I had more time'
How often to we say and hear those exasperations as we busily move at a very fast pace from task to task from job to job until we fall in a heap at the end of the day, zoning out as we lie on the couch mindlessly scrolling through Instagram.
The truth is, it's not more time that we need. It's that we need to learn how to slow down and value the time we have by becoming aware of our time traps. When we can be clear about what's important to us, we can choose where we spend our time and energy - here's the big tip - on the things that we value.
In pressing pause, slowing down to smell the roses if you like, we become more present in our lives. It's only in the here and now moments that we're able to choose where our focus goes.
When we're building a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around us, it's impossible for our minds to also be judgemental and what a relief that can be. When nothing is good or bad, it can simply be.
Sit Spot is one of our favourite tools for slowing down. After-all, a still body can lead to a clearer mind.
This Sit Spot activity comes from our favourite guide to Forest Bathing by M. Amos Clifford.
It's a very simple and very powerful practice. It is one of the best ways to rediscover your sense of wonder while enjoying the healing benefits of breathing in the outdoors. It also helps us deepen our connections to ourselves and to others, not to mention, the world around us.
All you need is 15 minutes to discover the universe in your favourite spaces outdoors and who knows, you might even find yourself while you're at it.
